Custom Cabinets

We realize that the word "custom," when applied to cabinetry should not only apply to the work that we produce, but also to the customer we are providing for. Our goal is to design a product suited perfectly for the individual and then execute the job in a fashion that sets the work apart from other products available. After hours at the Tuscaloosa Cabinet Group, you are more than likely to find our cabinet makers standing around talking about the craft of building cabinetry. Our staff takes a great deal of pride and satisfaction in the trade of cabinet making and they value the idea using traditional methods and techniques that have been handed down for generations.

As opposed to outsourcing cabinet parts as many shops do, we mill all of our lumber, doors, and moldings by hand.

There are aspects where we combine the traditional with the modern. For instance, when a customer commissions us to build their kitchen, we provide them with 3 dimensional CAD drawings and color samples of every aspect of their cabinetry. We also steer customers towards modern cabinet components and hardware that can make a kitchen extremely functional and organized.

The cabinets that are made in the Tuscaloosa Cabinet Group custom shop come standard with 3/4 inch plywood cases that are coated with a natural UV protective coating. This allows for a clean interior that is resistant to standing water, household chemicals, and eliminates the need for shelving paper. The standard drawer box offered is a edge-banded plywood box, that has under-mount, soft close drawer mechanisms and is also protected by a natural UV coating. Many times base cabinets, if they have adjustable shelves at all, will only have a half depth shelf. All of our cabinets, base and wall, come standard with full depth adjustable 3/4 shelves that are suspended by heavy duty metal shelf pins. All of our wood doors are not only joined with cope and stile joinery, but we go the extra mile by using wooden dowel pins which prevent door damage and joint splitting, even when subjected to abuse.

We welcome our potential customers to visit our shop to see the way we build the cabinets and meet the cabinet makers that build them. We are located at 813 31st Avenue Tuscaloosa, AL.
